MSU Denver Wine Labels
MSU Denver’s Oenology department wanted wine labels designed to address generic table red and table white wine to be sold at the MSU Denver student-ran restaurant. The wine maker did not want to be limited by the type of grape in season and wanted to appeal to younger generations historically less likely to buy wine. My design team developed a brand name for the wine and each member created individual designs. My team decided to use the campus address of 777 Lawrence St. due to the high graphic potential. I chose to show this as 7 70 7 to avoid godly connotations and a neutral color for wine, paired with yellow and red colors associated with the actual color of wine. Wine should be fun and appeal to a more contemporary audience. My team chose to use parody and satire to name the generic wine styles, beckoning back to comical events that often happen when wine is consumed. I was motivated to use bold, dynamic, and eye catching visuals to stand out from other labels in the industry.
